The process of delegation provides several benefits to managers and supervisors in an organization. Below article discusses how delegation process helps them including its benefits.

Delegation is simply passing a duty off to someone else. It is the giving of some power, responsibility or work to somebody else. It may also be defined as the assignment of responsibility or authority to another person (normally from a manager to a subordinate) to carry out specific activities. There are several advantages of delegation within an organization. Some of the most important ones are mentioned herein.

One of the most important benefits that a business manager gains is that he is a position to concentrate on higher functions of management and in decision making process effectively. Since the managers distribute their workload to others, this can enable them to pay attention to other activities that are more important.

However, it requires managers to provide guidance to subordinates as to how the activities can be performed in a way as needed, so that a manager may be involved in higher functions as well as the related activities may be carried out successfully.

Another extremely important benefit of giving the responsibilities to the subordinates is that it leads to create a self confidence among them. It is obvious that if a subordinate is assigned a quality and challenging work, he or she can develop a sense of satisfaction and so is motivated to fulfill the responsibilities in an appropriate manner.

While the process of delegation within a team enables those whose role is directly connected to deal promptly with the activities and associated problems, it leads to improve the relationship between a manager and his subordinates- binding the formal organization together. This could be a great cause to enhance the status of the subordinates the powers being given to them.

On the one hand delegation enhances the confidence level of the subordinates by motivating them to gain more experience and working closely with the manager; on the other hand, it improves the quality of work and enhances the behavioral climate. It leads to create the climate of trust, respect and inclusiveness in their work.

Of course, the importance of delegation is obvious with this respect that it enables effective management and supervision and control, so that the diverse activities may be carried out smoothly and yet efficiently. It helps to ensure the unity of command and helps the subordinates greatly in performing their tasks in a way as wanted. Thus, it may be rightly said that delegation can lead to produce the desired results by maintaining proper communication, the authority and the responsibility appropriately.
